Kites - Review

කලින් කිව්වා වගේ review එක නම් කඩ්ඩෙන් හොඳේ..


Expectation : Big..Nah Huge.. Cz All the Big names in industry are there like Hrithik, Anurag Basu, Rakesh Roshan..

If I talk about the story of this movie, it is one of the most basic stories in typical hindi movies. In the sense a poor guy loving one of the most poweful person in the city's gonna-be-wife. And taking her away and those rich people chasing the couple...etc..etc.. Apart from that basic story, I think this movie has everything to get the attraction of people.

But it is sad to say that it cudn't give the expectation we are asking from the biggest people in the industry. That is mainly because the thin storyline.
Apart from the story I would like to discuss about some mistakes Anurag did in the movie.

The most mismatching thing in this movie is Hrithik's beard. At one place, wounded J (Hrithik) has been put in a train carriage by Natasha (Barbara). At that point, just very small beard has grown on J's face. But at the start of the movie, it shows the train has come to it's destination and
some people found unconscious J inside the train carriage. When they find J, he has a huge growth of his his beard. For a normal person, to grow beard like this will take atleast 2 or 3 weeks. But as per the story J is a wounded man. So it is not practical to think that this train has travelled for 2 or 3 weeks. If it is so, J has to be dead.

Another place is when J is shot by Natasha's ex-BF, at that very time he is not inside the cab. But Natasha is inside the cab in the driving seat. Just next shot is Natasha's exBF gonna start chasing J & Nathsha. J has not got a chance to get inside the cab yet. In the next shot, Nathsha is racing her cab and start driving while J is in the outside of the cab. But surprisingly, in the
next shot J is inside the cab.

So those are places I have seen where it shows the lack of awareness of the director.

Now the good part. This movie is the second most surprisingly pieces-mixed movie I have ever seen. The pieces of the movie is jumbled in a very intelligent manner, where the viewer get shocked because the viewer is thinking some other thing will be happened after this. So it is really unpredictable.(The best pieces-mixed movie I have ever seen is Don). After watching the
scene just before the interval, You will think "ahh ok it will be happening like this". But after watching the scene just after the interval you will think "OMG! I was totally wrong"!! There are plenty of places where viewr get shocked to see what really happens except from the viewer prediction. That is the mixing-pieces is the most amazing USP of this movie.

Hrithik's and Barbara's chemistry is excellent. Kangana is ok for her guest appearance. Hrithik's dances will take you to another world..

So at last, even though Kites doesn't meet expectations, this is a must watch movie because of the amazing experience you will get by the way Anurag has mixed the story.

I will give 7.5/10 for Kites!
